Madison Correia, granddaughter
Eulogy from Granddaughter, Madison Correia shared on April 26, 2018 at Parklawn Cemetery: Most of you may know me but if not, my name is Madison Correia, and I am Antonio Melo's eldest granddaughter. As I was preparing for this eulogy, I hit a rock in getting started. I thought to myself, in what way can words even describe how great my grandfather is. All these words kept falling way too short of capturing my vavos (grandpa's) true essence. But then I realized there's never going to be a word for someone who's one of a kind. On April 23, 2018 we lost a husband, a father, a grandfather, and uncle and a friend. On April 23, 2018 my family lost the biggest piece to our family puzzle. My whole life, I had the most amazing, most funniest grandfather to look up to. I look back at the memories I had with my vavo and there was not a time where he didn't make the whole room laugh. Lets face it, if my grandfather didn't put a smile on your face or make you cry of laughter after saying some sarcastic remark then you didn't have a funny bone in your body. He always had a joke up his sleeve for my mom, aunts and vavo (grandma). But even though a lot of his words were jokes, he had the biggest heart for his family. My vavo did everything for his family. My grandfather raised my beautiful mother and beautiful aunts into strong, independent women with nothing but moral values. He taught this family everything there is to know. Not to mention he taught everyone everything there is to know about wrestling. :) He had that character. He had that sense of humor that anyone wishes to have. He filled our lives with joy. I gotta tell you, this man has shaped each and everyone of my family members into a kind, loving, grateful individuals by listening to his words of wisdom and funny sense of humor. My whole childhood I remember asking my mom or my dad 'what is vavo saying, translate please" because he was saying some crazy story in Portuguese, making the whole table laugh. My vavos goal in life to put a smile on your face that will forever by unforgotten. He kept his family together, he had so much lover for all of us, he had so much lover for you vavo (grandma), he had so much love for you mom, tia Liz, tia Sandra. He had so much love for his grandchildren. I'm going to miss your smile vavo. I'm going to miss the laughter that surrounded our family table. I'm going to miss standing in front of the tv to annoy you. I wish I could hear one more sarcastic remark from you vavo. I'm going to miss our bond. RIP vavo. I love you. May your soul never be forgotten. P.S. No one rocked those suspenders better than you! This isn't goodbye, this is a new beginning. For the rest of our lives we have a guardian angel watching over our family. Thank you vavo for being the best grandfather, husband, father you could be. You truly impacted our lives. I appreciate you all coming out to remember my beloved grandfather Antonio Melo, and giving me this opportunity to tell you a little more about him. I know he would've been honoured to know how may people cared enough to attend. Thank you. Madison Correia
