Obituary

Our darling Betty passed away peacefully in her sleep early on the morning of August 8, 2017 in her 100th year. Predeceased by her husband Arthur, sister of Anne Buyers and brother Owen White. Beloved mother of Joni and Judy. Devoted grandmother to Jesse (Lara), Chloe (Oli) and Kiyomi (Meaghan). Her spirit will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Betty's unique style and fashion sense were legendary (she loved her bling!), as was her great wit. Betty was an avid painter in her later years. A Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., onFriday, August 11th at the Cardinal Funeral Home at 366 Bathurst Street. Betty will be buried beside Arthur in Newmarket Cemetery on Saturday, August 12th at 10:00 a.m. A celebration of her life will take place after at Le Select Bistro at 432 Wellington Street West starting at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's name to the Toronto Humane Society would be greatly appreciated as she loved animals and had may treasured pets. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Lakeside Long Term Care Centre and of course to her caregiver and friend Rose Conrod.

Dear Joni and Judy I met your lovely mother at an evening course at George Brown College in the early 80's. We discovered that we were neighbors in the Shaw and College neighborhood and developed a friendship for several years. After I moved to the east end and started a family we lost touch but I often thought of her fondly. She always spoke so lovingly of her wonderful daughters and grandchildren.
