Dearest Oksana, To this date, your father's are my favorite hands. Thank you for sending me this photo. Who knew, fulfilling my request, this would be the last picture you would take of him? I find his hands in this last photo to retain their original strength and character while at the same time showing the frailty and vulnerability of age. I am really feeling your sadness today, old friend. I wish I could give you a long, warm hug and a cup of tea. Also, I know the book your brother wrote was really for family circulation but if there is by chance a digital version, I would be very interested to read his story. I started leafing through the pages in your kitchen the last morning I was there and found myself wishing I had had time to read about the life of your dad. I am not sure I remember the opening quote, but the sentiment stays with me. It went something along the lines of....(I decided to google it when I couldn't remember the phrase, so you'll recognize it) "Not every successful man is a good father, but every good father is a successful man." I agree with this wholeheartedly and am really glad you had such a good father. Stay strong my friend

Dearest Maria and Oksana and all the family I haven't yet met; my deepest and heartfelt condolences. It was a pleasure and a privilege to have known Michael, albeit for a very short period in his long life. Reading to him and walking with him in the park with Maria, are warm and vivid memories for me. I hope your recollections, stories and indelible memories soothe you all, during these sad days. Maria and family , so sorry to hear of Michaels passing . Lovely memories of times we were together at the farm in Maxwell ,from the day you bought the land and the times you came and spent at your cottage . We have kept in touch over the years since ,so I share your sorrow .
