Obituary

Helena Klimas b. May 30, 1926, d. March 23, 2018. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother Helena Klimas, Born Helena Lyczko in the southern town of Tarnow, Poland. Helena was abruptly uprooted from her family in 1940 at the age of 14 and sent to Germany to work in various home domestic jobs. After the war she immigrated to Canada in June 12, 1950. This is where she met her husband shortly after and were married. Since her father taught her to sew as a young girl, finding employment in Toronto in the 1950's in the once flourishing garment industry along Spadina Road and Richmond St West area was very easy. She worked her entire life at the Segal Shirt factory on Maud St where she retired in 1991 at the age of 65. Predeceased by her husband John, she leaves in great sorrow her sons Henry and Robert. She is survived by her sisters Marie and Gushta in Poland. We will sorely miss her gentle demeanor and sacrifice to her family. May she rest in peace and her memory remain eternal. Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home at 366 Bathurst St, Toronto, on Monday, March 26, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service at St. Stanislaus Koska Church 12 Denison St, on Tuesday, March 27, at 10:00 a.m. with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cement, followed by a wake at TBD.
