Obituary
Tekla Solomon (neé Duda)Died unexpectedly on January 29, 2018 at the age of 86. She will be forever missed by her loving children Sonia, Lesia Zelyk (Roman), Roman (Janet Ryan), Oksana Fuke (John). Proud baba to Alexander, Timothy, Paul, Michael, Taissa, Anya, Emily and Patrick. Tekla is survived by her sisters Anna Bybel (Stephen) and Mary Laconte (late William), sister-in-law Maria Solomon (late Stephan) and numerous nephews and nieces in Canada, the United States and Poland. Rejoined husband Pawlo and sisters Emilia Lukasik and Julia Duda in heaven. Thanks to all of her kind caregivers and the staff at Copernicus Lodge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ukrainian Youth Association or Vesnivka Choir. Tekla will be remembered for her devotion to family, friends, church and the Ukrainian Community.

I was saddened to learn of your dear mother's passing. I always admired her love for and commitment to her family, her devotion to the Ukrainian Canadian community, and the way her eyes twinkled just before she would smile. Dear Sonia, Lesia, Oksana and Roman. I am so sorry for your loss and am saddened and shocked by her sudden passing. She is definitely one of the strongest and most courageous women I have ever met. My mom was blessed to have her company in her last years. One of my most prominent memories was of her no-nonsense approach to situations...I remember eating hot soup at your house and complaining of the heat and she said “Duj” (trying to spell phonetically)...pretty much came out like “so blow on it!” Lol. Shannon and I are sorry we can’t be there in person to say goodbye as we are out of the country, but we will be thinking of you all. Hugs and Prayers, Teresa and Shannon.

Dear Sonia and Lesia,
We are sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. May your beautiful memories of her sustain and bring comfort to you during this difficult time.
We had the privilege of getting to know her on Sundays after early morning Mass. She was a kind and gentle woman. She had such a spirit of wisdom and was always willing to share her experiences.
