Obituary

Nick Burak was born on October 10, 1939 in Star City, Saskatchewan. He was survived by his two daughters, sister, five grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In life, Nick was a very humble and loving man, never wanting anyone to worry about him. As a teenager, he played football at Humberside. He received a degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Toronto. Afterwards, he continued his education by taking a 4 year correspondence course where he received a designation as a Chartered Accountant from Queens University. He spent many of his working years  in corporate finance for the Ontario government. His brief time in playing football, started his love for the Argonauts and CFL. During his spare time, he enjoyed reading, with his favourite genres being history and mystery.   Late into his working life, Nick moved to Mississauga with his daughter and son-in-law, Anastasia and Daniel, to help them in raising his grandchildren. There, he continued to tell jokes, raising each of the grandchildren with a good sense of humor.

I was very sorry to hear of Nick's passing. We became friends at St. Vladimir's Cathedral where we attended Sunday School and Ukrainian School together. Although we lived in different parts of Toronto our friendship continued into our twenties. He was my best man when I married in 1965. Unfortunately we grew apart and the last real occasion we saw one another was when he and Myrna attended our daughter's wedding in 2000. I cherish the memories of the adventures we shared as we grew up through our school years although we attended different schools. Rest in peace Nick.
