Obituary
When people think of love and family they will think of Ricky. A man that stood as a beacon for living life to its fullest. Rick passed away after a long-life struggle. Several years ago, he was diagnosed with the MYLK Gene Mutation and finally passed away on July 17th, 2017. He is remembered by his wife Maryann. Brother to Lynne, Lisa and Karen, Brother-in-Law to Joe and Brian. Uncle Ricky to Crystal, Justin, Jason, Marc, Tyrell and Brandon and special friend to Randy, Dave and too many more to mention. Rick had an extraordinary flair for life and was always the life of the party especially when hosting karaoke. He joins Mother Shirley, Father Gaston, Sister Lorrie and Nephew Christopher in song up in heaven. He was loved by many, will be missed by all, but never forgotten in our hearts. To quote Ricky, "Everyone has been awesome. I love you all, till we meet again".Visitation

My heart has been so heavy since uncle Ricky passed. Especially lately. I am so lucky to have been able to spend time with Aunt Maryann the past couple weeks. They were 2 of a kind. Full of love, kindness, everything positive and everything I strive to Be! Hoping you are resting easy in your new pain free world Uncle Ricky! Until we meet again! We will have so much to catch up on! Love you always!

I am sending my heart felt condolences to maryann her family and ricks family on the untimely passing of a really nice guy , and good hearted man , that was taken away from all of us too soon and he will be surely missed but never forgotten , and he will always be known to me as mr.karaoke for his love for it and his knowledge about it, rick was an icon in the karaoke business, and he can never be replaced, so I say it with great pleasure and honour to cross paths with such a person as rick and he will always live on in peoples heart as the great guy he was to his friends and family and loving husband he was to mary ann, may he rest in peace.

Over a decade ago, I met Rick at Sports Centre Cafe; I found out that he knew my cousin, Jay Griff; they were/are great friends. Over the years, Rick and I became good friends, and we had many good conversations, and we shared myriad memorable moments. Rick invariably demonstrated kindness, caring, respect, and friendship towards all -- he treated everyone really well, all the time. To Maryann and Rick's Family, my sincerest condolences, and may the Lord shine his countenance upon you; may He grant you peace and comfort in your time of bereavement. I know that Rick will live in your hearts, forever, and, whenever anyone speaks of him, smiles will be made and warm thoughts and feelings will be had. Rick was genuinely an amazing soul. One of the kindest genuine men I've ever come across. Whenever I hear Michael Jackson's song "blame it on the boogie" I will forever think of rick and the sunshine dance. RIP my friend ... the host that started my love for Karaoke and knowing it was okay to be just me.

My sincere condolences to Maryann and all of Rick's family. I met Rick 7 years ago at the SCC and became an instant Friday night regular. Rick's uplifting personality, boundless charisma and fun-filled nature made him one of the most likeable people I've ever met. I will miss you Rick and will always think of you with a song in my heart. Rest in peace.

Rick was one of those rare human beings you were always happy to be around, no matter how great or bad your day was, being with Rick made you feel good – he brought his energy into the room. You could feel him. He was real, and genuine, and kind. He always cared about me, and listened, and remembered small details about me. His energy was light. Whenever and wherever I saw Rick, he was always enjoying life, and the people around him. He always had so many people around him - it was easy to be drawn to him. He is going to be missed by LOTS of people. I haven’t seen Rick in a few years, but I clearly remember how good it felt to be around him. That’s a feeling one could never forget.

There's many people that come and go in your life but Rick was someone that was always there through everything. Rick has influenced my life in many ways and the way he lived I strive to be the same every day of my life. I will never forget him, his attitude, his love of music and life. There are no words to adequately describe how wonderful a human being Ricky was. More than a friend, he was family. He touched so many lives and brought people together. Never has there been a more generous, kind, loving, caring, funny, warm and encouraging person.
My heart breaks for Maryann and the whole family. If not for Ricky, I would not have met so many of the amazing friends I met through Rick and Maryann.
Rick and Maryann have helped me and my family through difficult times as they have for so many people. The most selfless couple ever. I'm better for having known them and am here for you always Maryann.

I met Rick at my sister n laws home during xmas when he came for a visit, I enjoyed listening to his stories and came to realize how important his family was to him I didn't know you that well rick because of the distance between us but I'm sure if we could have narrowed the distance you and I would have been great friends your long struggles are over now and you join the rest of your family and friends in heaven god bless you rick

Ricky was like a brother to me and a truly amazing friend. I really can't express my feelings to well so I want to share this with everyone whose life that Ricky has touched in so many ways.
