Dear Kevin, Alice, and Georgia, There are no words for what has happened. We are so very very sorry for your loss. Your wife/mother left way too soon - you all deserved to have her for decades to come, and she deserved to watch you girls grow. We have so many happy memories with Karen, and with all of you. From Liberty Village play dates, to annual trips to the Ex, to countless hours spent in the back room of the store on Queen. Fast forward a few years, and Karen, Georgia, Noah and I spent a year of Mat Leave together. Many afternoons at Trinity Bellwoods and Dufferin Grove. Your wife, your mum, our dear friend - she was so much fun to be around. She had a great sense of humor, such style and grace, and taught me everything I know today about art and design. She was not only an artist, herself, in so many ways - but also such a supporter of the art community. As was seen even in the pride she took in showing off her studio mates at the show we attended in November. We will miss her more than we can express in words, but what we will miss most is watching her be the incredible mother she was to you two girls. Her dedication and love to making sure you had the best possible love, home, schooling, nutrition, and activities, was unparalleled. You are two of the loveliest girls we know - and much of that is thanks to your mother. And Kevin, there was never any doubt of the love, respect, and great partners you two were as husband and wife, parents, and even in watching you help out at the store or her studio. She was lucky to have you - and you, her. We won’t ever forget her. All of our love to you three in this very difficult time. xoxox

I wish I could be there in person to say goodbye to my old friend. I have so many fond memories of our high school and university years. Karen was the “coolest” person I knew, always ahead of the curve, and always effortlessly chic. We would spend hours pouring over the latest Vogue or Elle, listening to the best of Brit pop or some awesome Canadian Indie band. Witnessing her turn her passions into reality, first through her fashion designs, and then through Token, I always admired how Karen never settled and always did what she loved. She may have been quiet, but she was strong, so strong. Kevin, Alice and Georgia, my heart goes out to you. Sending you love, hugs and strength. All my love, Michelle
